Mind Matters

October 15, 2017

Over the past year, I have been studying as much as I can about the connection of how we live and what we eat.

I've had a few issues with digestion and this in turn has created gut issues, skin issues, energy issues and brain health issues.

It's no coincidence that in my bible study I came back to the same words time and again- Romans 12:1-2 present your bodies to God in verse 1 and verse 2, no longer be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

I've been questioning God about what it looks like practically to present your body to Him. One of the major practicalities is to eat right.

Now being weak in the area of food and drink, I have had to take a real close look at my diet as my body is now screaming for me to do just this!

I was amazed to read in research that what we eat actually affects our minds! That's huge, just stop and think about that for a minute

WHAT WE EAT AFFECTS OUR MINDS!

That means how we think , if we can think after we have splurged our guts with alcohol or processed foods...

How we think is how we act and how we act is how we live.

It makes sense that we need to clear our minds and allow ourselves to connect to the heart of  our soul and spirit, the three working synergistically to transform us into the person God has created for us to be, which in my mind means being happier, healthier and wiser. Full of life and hope!

So the first step towards a transformed life...and by the way the word used in the greek is metamorphose...so the transformation is literally changing who you are completely..from a tadpole to a frog, from a caterpillar to a butterfly..that kind of metamorphosis.

Gut health is vitally important to us all.

Here's my tips on presenting your bodies..

1) Take probiotic supplements...Dr Axe is great to study on all aspects of gut health

2) For digestion issues take digestive enzymes before a meal.

3) Try to eat simple foods that are not processed.

4) Eat plenty of vegetables.

5) Turmeric is good

6) Chia seeds

7) Fermented foods like sauerkraut

8)Plenty of fresh water

9) Walking out each day for at least 30 minutes

10) Cut out sugary foods

11) Limit carbs like bread..definitely no white bread yuk!!!

12) Sit at the table with friends or family to eat.

Tomorrow i'll be talking about this topic in more detail.
